the South Tyrolean wine road between Alps and Dolomites

South Tyrol connects alpine and Mediterranean culture. Its mild climate influences the friendly mentality of its inhabitants as well as the landscape. South Tyrol has always been considered the centre of the wine-growing culture and the apple cultivation. Unending orchards and vineyards run through the landscape from Bozen to Salurn. Here you can find the famous South Tyrol wine road.
The wine road crosses the orchards and vineyards of the Etschtal the Überetsch and the Unterland. Up to the 18th century there was just wetland where now nature stands in gardens, meadows and mixed forests in full bloom. South Tyrol is not only a "must" for wine lovers but also for hikers.

Along the South Tyrolean wine road there is a lot to discover and explore. Beginning with the innumerable castles and residences, which evocate a long wine tradition, to the Lakes Montiggl and the Lake Kaltern, to the numerous unique footpaths there are a lot of other possibilities to vary your stay in the wine road hotels.

Our hotels are in Girlan, Lake Montiggl and Kaltern and all of them are surrounded by house-own vineyards and fruit meadows.

A discovery journey along the South Tyrolean wine road will surprise you

All around Bozen you will find the soft but still strong St. Magdalene wine, as well as the characteristic Lagrein. In the “Überetsch” region and the Etschtal itself, you can taste excellent white wines and the famous Kalterersee-Vernatsch. In the “Unterland”, with its home in Tramin, the Gewürztraminer is available as a fine and aromatic wine. And remember: The South Tyrolean wine road is Italy's eldest wine road!
